Male Traits
Male Traits and Virility
Life has certain expectations that can not be altered. Science and technology may continue to exceed the expectations of the human race, but the fundamentals of procreation will always exist and always continue. Careers, athletic games, and material items that once were reserved for males have been caught up in the feminist movement and reconstructed. At times the lines between masculine and feminine identities are blurred; however, virility is innate. Equality may be sought amongst the sexes, but procreation will always signal and bring the male and female relationship to its origin. Virility is necessary, no matter how it is defined.
The role of men
Men are designed to procreate. Throughout centuries, men have a longing to father offspring. Fathering children identifies man’s virility. Even in today’s world where women continue to seek equality, a man still is a man with certain responsibilities to the life-cycle.
Men have stepped out of their normal roles and are now commonly considered the nurturer of the family, for whatever reason may exist – death or absence of the mother. Men are taking a more active role in their virility, and are fighting for their children. They are fighting against adoption, abortion, and separation. Their innate need to protect, as it represents power, continues to thrive. They are crossing roles to exemplify their virility. Some can accept race equality, but are strong in their sense of being to never lose sight of their life’s role.
Physical characteristics and strong personality traits
Females have long been attracted to the strong man – the jock, the muscular bodybuilder, and the man who is able to lift heavy items easily. These dominant physical characteristics of muscle and strength portray the power of masculinity – the highest sense of virility. Innate desires of women to be attracted to these characteristics sometimes out-weight all logical thinking. It becomes an uninhibited physical attraction.
Some distinctive personalities that are common in masculine definitions include the Type A and authoritarian personalities. The Type A personality pattern of behaviors include being highly competitive, aggressive, and very ambitious. Many successful businessmen and athletes are known to portray these personality traits. The ambitious behavior of this type of personality is common to success. Success is important to virility, as it can support multiple off-springs with strong leadership qualities and an abundance of wealth.
Authoritarian personalities can also be similarly related to virility, as it is commonly described as portraying behaviors that reflect power, status, and a desire for structure. Men always found it necessary to prove their virility. Being physically and emotionally strong is essential to survival. In many ways, we are no different now then our ancestors.
Physical characteristics and personalities are largely determined by genetics, but it can be changed if one wants to increase virility. Cultural and social upbringing and genetics influence personalities and the physical body. An attractive personality and body is about what is shown to others. It is what stands out from the crowd. Controlling these areas can give one the power of dominance. Masculinity is confidence that shows virility; confidence to take charge and make things happen. Not everything has to be genetic.
